Frequently Asked Questions

Has your child got a BYOX device?

Our school is a laptop school and as such, it is expected all students own a laptop and bring every day to school fully charged.

Has your child connected to our school system? Do they have the Read cloud icon on their laptop?

To access our Wi-Fi, Read Cloud and school systems, all student laptops must be connected via a BYOX program. Read cloud is an online platform which allows students to access their subject textbooks both at school and at home. Both the BYOX system and Read cloud application need to be loaded onto their device when they are at school. Our school IT Technician is available Wednesday through to Friday to assist setting up their computers. Mr Kok is also on hand in B Block.

What if my child’s computer is ‘under repair’?

We have a small bank of ‘Student Laptops’ which we are able to loan out, on a ‘lesson by lesson’ basis until your child’s computer is repaired. Access to our ‘computer bank’ will require a signed note from a parent/ carer, verifying the computer is under repair and giving permission to borrow from the school’s computer bank.

I cannot afford a computer at the moment. Can my son/ daughter borrow one from school?

Yes. A ‘green form’ was given to all eligible students. It requires a permission signature from a parent and must be returned to the school office before borrowing can commence.

I know my son/ daughter has a computer, however, sometimes I find it sitting at home after they’ve left for school. Should they be bringing it to school every day?

Definitely. Much like a student requires their pencil case and school diary every day, they also require their laptop. To assist parents with this, teachers will organise a short text message to be sent home when a student consistently ‘forgets’ to bring in their computer. Parents are asked to encourage their son or daughter, as part of their everyday routine in getting ready for school, to be prepared; have their laptop on charge the night before and routinely check they have it with them when going to school.

Are you having trouble getting your son/daughters laptop ready for school?
