Student services and support programs

Nanango State High School offers a wide variety of student services and support programs.

Breakfast Club!

We have started a Breakfast Club for students who don’t have time to eat before coming to school.  Recent health surveys have revealed that approximately 25% of students at Nanango High School do not have breakfast before attending school.  Breakfast is essential to maintaining good health.  Foodbank and Nanango IGA have generously  offered to assist in meeting this need within the school community.   The program will run Thursday mornings from 8.15am, at the back of student services from the dining room area.  We welcome involvement from staff, parents and community members.  If you are interested in helping out please contact Student Services.

ReachOut Website!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I would like to warmly recommend the ReachOut.com website: http://au.reachout.com/ which is a youth mental health and wellbeing service for young people up til the age of 25 years.

Life for your child is more complicated and complex, than it was for ourselves at the same age and it’s helpful, as a parent, to be aware of the most “up to date” and “best practice” information around these issues.  The approach has a strong emphasis on taking positive steps to make things better.

The site has 300+ factsheets on every conceivable topic related to issues which may be concerning your son/daughter.

Please take a moment to explore this site, as it allows you to be informed about matters relevant to your son/daughter and the world they live in.

It is also a good reference point to start discussions.

Much of this information is helpful to everyone (adults included).

Supporting and resourcing yourself is a very powerful way of providing the leadership and care, which allows your child to thrive.

Kind regards

Judy Fearnley
